Later I had a chat with Malwarebytes using the online chat system and they found they couldn't help. Needed to go deeper and install some software that would make logs they said. Not prepared to do that so I asked if they would list what the possible problems were, which did not happen. But in the end a knowledgeable person came to the rescue and it worked without help of Malwarebytes.
Was put in queue position 23 and after an hour it went down to 11 and then back up to 23. Charged twice for a download that didn’t download. Called the number associated with the withdrawal from my bank and held for 20 minutes with ear-splitting noise on hold. It feels deliberate. Horrible.
